Goss Equips Three Turkish plants

Posted
By: E&P Staff Merkez Yayin Holding A.S. ordered 58 Goss Community units from Goss International for three of its printing plants across Turkey. The units will form two new press lines, to print the national daily Sabah at new locations in Antalya and Trabzon, and a four-high tower addition to a Goss Magnum in Istanbul. Sabah has been printed on Goss presses since 1987.

The press at Antalya, in southwest Turkey, will comprise 28 units arranged as six four-high towers and two two-high towers. With a maximum speed of 35,000 cph, it will print 46,000 copies daily for Sabah's local distribution. The second press, to print 47,000 copies daily in Trabzon, on northern Turkey's Black Sea coast, will consist of 26 new units arranged as six four-high towers and one two-high tower. Both locations will begin production this summer.

A four-high Community tower will extend the Istanbul plant's Magnum press line, providing the increased color capacity and flexibility the company requires.

Besides the 448,000-circulation Sabah, Merkez prints the daily Takvim (317,000 copies), sports daily Fotomac (222,000 copies), daily Soc (160,000 copies) and Cumhurriyet (82,000 copies).
