Goss Gets Another Contract from Big Turkish Publisher

Posted
By: E&P Staff Following a contract with Goss International to upgrade two Goss HT70 presses at its Dogan Printing Center in Istanbul, Turkey's largest printing center (E&P Online, Aug. 12), Turkey's largest newspaper publisher Hurriyet Gazetecilik ve Matbaacilik A.S. -- part of the Dogan Yayin Holding Group -- is buying the country's first Goss Uniliner doublewide press.

The investment was made to accommodate higher demand for quality color printing. Do_an Yayin Holding publishes and prints 10 dailies, including Hurriyet, Milliyet, Posta, Radikal, Referans, and Fanatik, with a combined circulation of 2,250,000.

The five-tower, 75,000-cph, shaftless Uniliner, with six load-bearing reelstands, has been specified with features to ensure higher quality, faster turnaround and lower makeready waste. They include high-speed, environmentally friendly blanket wash-up, automatic color and cut-off control, OPCS level 3 press controls, advanced job and presetting capability, and spray-bar dampening.

A 2:5:5/2:3:3 double-couple folder will provide the flexibility needed to produce two products at the same time. The press will be capable of printing as many as 48 pages, with 32 pages in four-color and 16 with spot color.
