Goss Newsliner 90 for Yokohama Daily

Posted
By: E&P Staff Kanagawa Shimbun, which circulates 220,000 copies, ordered a Newsliner 90 press from Goss International, Bolingbrook, Ill., to increase color capability and productivity. It will be the seventh Goss press installed at Kanagawa Shimbun Co.'s suburban Yokohama plant, which is run by its Kanashin Offset affiliate.

The new press' speed and digital inking system are "major benefits to us and will allow us to keep up with the demand from our customers for higher quality and faster turnarounds," Managing Director and Plant Manager Masayuki Motoda said in a statement.

The press will consist of three four-high towers, one folder, and three RTPs. It will be capable of printing 24 pages with 16 pages in full color at speeds up to 90,000 copies per hour. It will be equipped with the latest Goss DigiRail digital inking system for fast makereadies, less waste, easy operation and better print quality.

Established in 1890, Kanashin Offset prints not only Kanagawa Shimbun, but also several contract newspapers. The company first installed a Goss press - an Urbanite II -- in 1984. It now runs two Urbanite II presses, three Metroliners, and a shaftless Newsliner installed in March 2004.
