By: E&P Staff Following a sale to a large Brazilian customer (E&P Online, May, 31), Goss International, Bolingbrook, Ill., has posted Community press sales to two more Latin American customers, one of which also is buying Goss packaging equipment.

Litografia Magno Graf, Puebla, Mexico, ordered a Goss Community to expand production of its main newspaper, Sintesis, into two further states. The company, which currently prints Sintesis for distribution across the Mexican states of Puebla, Hidalgo, and Tlaxcala, will now also produce copies for Veracruz and Morelos states.

The 14-unit Community press will be configured with one two-high and three four-high towers and will be installed with a new folder and four zero-speed splicers. Due to be installed in early October, the press is expected to cut waste by up to 50% and significantly increase productivity at the plant in Puebla.

Noting growth in demand for newspapers over the last three years, Magno Graf General Director Armando Prida Noriega said the press "will almost double our newspaper output."

The 35-year-old company runs six web presses and three sheetfed presses producing a range of print products, including newspapers, books, brochures, and leaflets for customers across Mexico.

Venezuela's Diario La Verdad ordered a Goss Beltveyor conveyor system and GS500 stacker only months after ordering a Goss Community press. The packaging components will join the Community in the company's new plant, now being built. The order is the first combined Goss press and packaging system ordered in South America.

The packaging components will be used to convey and stack Diario La Verdad, an 8-year-old 40-page broadsheet. The Goss system will print and stack over 55,000 copies of the paper each day for delivery across the region of Zulia in northwest Venezuela.

When the newspaper was launched, it installed a Community. President and Editor in Chief Juan Carlos Abudei Muller said in a statement: "Being able to buy both the press and the packaging equipment from Goss gives us great confidence for the installation and ongoing quality of our print."
