By: E&P Staff Goss International, Bolingbrook, Ill., has integrated within its U.S. operations Tokyo-based Akiyama International Co.'s North American organization, assuming responsibility for sales and support of Akiyama products, including Jprint presses, in the United States and Canada.
Under the agreement, several members of Akiyama's sales and service team in North America have joined the Goss organization, where the large-scale parts and service operation now supports printers operating more than 800 Akiyama presses in North America. Independent dealers will continue to market Akiyama products in some regions of the United States and Canada, working through Goss International.
Like Goss, Akiyama is affiliated with Chinese utility and industrial manufacturer Shanghai Electric Corp.
"Our North American infrastructure provides a substantial platform to support existing customers as well as a growth strategy for Akiyama products in the region," Goss CEO Jochen Meissner said in a statement. "The Jprint presses in particular, with their innovative perfecting technology, offer a compelling alternative to traditional four-over-four sheetfed perfectors."
Akiyama's Jprint and Mega Jprint sheetfed models feature an exclusive technology that perfects without reversing the sheets. Close to 500 Jprint presses have been installed worldwide. Akiyama also makes Supertech, eXtreme and Bestech press models for commercial and packaging applications.
