By: E&P Staff Goss International announced today that it plans to rationalize capacity at its two operations in France.
Goss will present a plan to works councils at facilities in Nantes and Montataire that would transfer Goss Uniliner and Universal presses from Nantes to Montataire, where Goss M-600, Sunday 4000 and Sunday 5000 presses are now manufactured.
Goss said it "remains committed to its full product portfolio and to serving customers through its global manufacturing and support network."
The proposed restructuring is part of an effort to adjust capacity to economic and market conditions. The most recent measures have included workforce reductions at sites in The Netherlands and the United States in late 2008 and early 2009 and temporary furloughs or "short-time" work schedules at several sites. The company also has a plan to further reduce staffing at its facility in Preston, England.
