By: Mark Fitzgerald Gracia Martore, who has been CFO of Gannett Co. Inc. since January 2003, was named to the new position of president and chief operating officer, Chairman and CEO Craig Dubow announced Monday morning in a conference call with analysts.
Martore will lead Gannett?s day-to-day operations, Dubow said.
?This is a new position to Gannett that will allow me to spend the majority of my time on the strategic direction of our company,? Dubow said. ?She will work with me on M&A (mergers and acquisitions) and talk with the financial community. Gracia is a phenomenal leader who has been very, very passionate in support of our company.?
Martore will continue to act as CFO until a replacement is named, Dubow said.
Martore was the first woman CFO at Gannett. She joined the company as assistant treasurer in 1985.
