Gray Goes to Newstec for Inserting

Posted
By: E&P Staff Gray Publishing LLC chose Newstec in Walpole, Mass., to provide an integrated inserting system at the Lawrenceville, Ga., location of the Gray Television Inc. subsidiary, which operates five dailies.

For the Lawrenceville plant, which prints the Gwinnett Daily Post, the Rockdale Citizen, and the Newton Citizen, Newstec will be responsible for turnkey installation of one remanufactured GMA SLS-1000 24:2 inserter, four NT 200 hopper loaders, and a Newscom insert-management controller, which will be off line and connect to two Quipp 501 stackers and two Dynaric NP-4000 strapping machines.

Noting insert volume and circulation growth, Operations Director Stewart A. Woodard attributed the selection to Newstec's ability to meet the required installation time line (beginning next month for August operation), inserting capability, and budget, as well as its long-term commitment to Gray's operation.
