'Great Pumpkin' Contest Marks TV Special's Anniversary

By: E&P Staff Snoopy.com is holding an essay contest to mark the 40th anniversary of "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown," the TV special which first aired in October 1966.

Entrants are asked to write 500-600 words about their worst Halloween experiences. Submissions must be received by July 21, and the winner will be announced in time for ABC-TV's re-broadcasting of the special this October. Grand prize is an all-expenses-paid trip for two to the Charles M. Schulz Museum and Research Center in Santa Rosa, Calif.

Reruns of Schulz's "Peanuts" comics are syndicated by United Media.
