Group Says Sowell Column is Anti-Gay

By: Dave Astor The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) said a recent column by Thomas Sowell included "anti-gay bigotry."

Among the comments Sowell made in the Dec. 31 piece was that "activists are pushing" gay marriage because they want "the stamp of acceptance on homosexuality, as a means of spreading that lifestyle, which has become a death style in the era of AIDS."

GLAAD urged people to write letters to the editor to newspapers that ran the Dec. 31 Sowell column and to contact Creators Syndicate to ask why the piece was distributed.

Creators has pointed out that it distributes a wide variety of opinion columnists -- conservative, centrist, and liberal. And, in response to the complaints about Sowell's piece, Creators noted that one of its columnists is openly lesbian writer Deb Price.
