Guild Likely to File for Arbitration in Susan Sachs 'NYT' Firing

Posted
By: Jennifer Saba It?s likely that the Newspaper Guild will file for arbitration in the case of Susan Sachs, the former New York Times foreign correspondent who lost her job amid accusations that sent anonymous, harassing emails and letters to two of the paper's Baghdad correspondents.

The guild will likely file for arbitration in the next couple of weeks, Local Representative Bob Townsend told E&P today.

One of three out comes could occur, Townsend said: Sachs could get her job back with back pay, she could get her job back with no back pay, or she could be terminated.

Times spokeswoman Catherine Mathis said the paper would not comment on the matter.

Towsend did not recall a case of this nature prior Sach's situation.
