By: E&P Staff Robin McCormick has been named managing editor of the Daily Press in Hampton Roads, Va. She is promoted from deputy editor, a position in which she has served since 2004.
McCormick?s new responsibilities include managing the daily operation of the newsroom and directing the staff in all facets of the print edition's production. She will also work with the company's interactive division to continue developing innovative ways to deliver news.
McCormick started her career at Daily Press Inc. after graduating college in 1981 at The Times-Herald, the former afternoon paper. Since then she has had numerous roles at the Daily Press, working as a copy editor/designer, assistant metro editor, business editor, night news editor, features editor, and presentation editor. She also assisted in the paper?s foray into multimedia.
As deputy editor, McCormick directed special projects in addition to offering input on the daily selection of front-page stories. She also helped with the Daily Press? redesign. She has been a regular contributor to the ?Feedback? column, a duty she shares with Vice President/Editor Ernie Gates.
