By: E&P Staff Printing Press Services International Ltd., Preston, England, has chosen Harland Simon as its partner in upgrading the Goss Colorliner presses at Britain's Trinity Mirror Printing in Newcastle Upon Tyne.
The press control system will be upgraded to the latest version of PressNet, which will precede the press extension. Harland Simon is responsible for integrating the new printing units into the existing press line and upgrading the Prima management system to allow for the greater number of possible impositions.
Besides increased pagination, Trinity Mirror will benefit from improved press controls that include better desk screens and diagnostics, according to Harland Simon.
For the same project, slated for completion in November, Harland Simon received a separate order from Trinity Mirror Printing for additional desk screens and the integration of Quadtech register controls into the new PressNet system. Operators will be able to start and stop the Quadtech system from Harland Simon screens, as well as control shift values so that circumferential and lateral adjustments made at the screen can be routed to the Quadtech system.
