By: E&P Staff Italy's Centro Stampa Poligrafici has placed orders with Harland Simon, Milton Keynes, England, to update the Prima system hardware and software for the Goss HT/Uniliner presses at its production facilities in Bologna and in Florence.
The April installation will replace obsolete hardware with industry PCs running the latest version of Prima MS applications, as well as Prima RIPSet so that the sites can benefit from press presetting.
Benefits of the upgrade, which will run on Windows OS 7, include improved communications between the Prima system and the press controls, ink and dampener presetting using data taken directly from the RIP, better press event logging, and page tracking that time and date stamps receipt of page separations for the RIP.
