The Hartford (Conn.) Courant launched an advertising
campaign Thursday to promote ctnow.com, the statewide news and
information site launched in November. The site includes content and
classifieds from the Courant and content from other media outlets
in Connecticut.

'The ad campaign, which runs statewide, is intended to create awareness
of ctnow.com in geographic areas outside the Hartford Metro,' said Mark
Aldam, the newspaper's vice president of sales, marketing and
operations.

The TV, radio, and print campaign features Connecticut TV personality
Pat Sheehan, a former news anchor with a high recognition factor in the
state. Created by Cashman & Katz Advertising, the campaign says you
can't get a news anchor to come to your home whenever you want the news,
but you can get news anytime at ctnow.com. Sheehan is depicted providing
the latest news at the breakfast table with ordinary people.

The campaign is targeted at news shows and popular prime time programs
like 'Who Wants to be a Millionaire?'

Two newspapers recently joined ctnow.com's affiliate list: The
Litchfield County Times of New Milford, and Main Street News
of Essex. The site now has 11 news affiliates.

The Courant is a Times Mirror paper.
