By: E&P Staff Robert K. Schrepf has been promoted to vice president and editorial page editor at The Hartford (Ct.) Courant. He most recently served as acting editorial editor.
Schrepf becomes the first new leader of the page in 28 years. He succeeds John Zakarian.
Schrepf's main duties wil include working with the publisher and editorial board to form the paper's stance on various issues. He will also oversee editorials and handle readers' letters.
In the past, Schrepf has led several projects for the editorial department and is past president of the New England Society of Newspaper Editors. He also is a member of the National Conference of Editorial Writers and has earned several regional awards for excellence in editorial writing.
He joined the Courant's editorial page staff in 1982 after 14 years at the Lincoln (Neb.) Star.
