By: E&P Staff Honolulu Star-Bulletin columnist Charles Memminger is trying to license a slogan he came up with called "Get Life On."
Memminger, who uses the slogan to promote his "Honolulu Lite" humor feature, was recently awarded a federal trademark for the three words. Now he's trying to license the slogan, along with four Web-site URLs using "Get Life On," to a national company or organization.
The award-winning columnist -- who's also an author and screenwriter -- told E&P's he's serious about marketing the slogan but is trying to go about it in a humorous way.
"I've written probably millions of words in the past 30 years, so it's kind of ironic that here I am trying to sell just three words," Memminger said. "But they are three really good words." He described his slogan as "inspirational."
If the slogan does sell, Memminger said he'll donate 10% of any income to charity -- starting with the American Cancer Society.
