HEARST UNLOADS TWO OUTDOORS TITLES

(Mediaweek) Hearst Corp. has sold Motor Boating & Sailing magazine to Times Mirror Magazines and Sports Afield to SA Acquisition Corp. SA Acquisition is chaired by Robert E. Petersen, founder and former chairman of Petersen Publishing.

MB&S, a 122,505 circulation monthly, will join Times Mirror Magazine's stable of outdoor enthusiast titles, such as Yachting, Salt Water Sportsman, Field & Stream, and Outdoor Explorer. Hearst has owned the 92-year-old title since 1909.

Sports Afield, which has a circulation of 456,378, has been with Hearst for nearly half its 112-year history. Closely held Hearst originally put the titles up for sale in August. Both sales are expected to be completed in the first quarter of next year.
