By: E&P Staff Agfa Graphics, Mortsel, Belgium, announced today immediate and substantial worldwide price increases for its printing plates and films.
The company said average price hikes are in the double digits, "but vary depending on markets and regions."
The company attributed its decision to silver and aluminum prices that have hit 17- and 19-year highs, respectively, along with continuing energy and transportation cost increases.
Agfa Graphics' President Stefaan Vanhooren said in a statement announcing the pricing that Agfa customers "expect us to continue investing in leading-edge technology and innovative solutions. That is why we believe they will understand the necessity of these price increases."
