Hendersonville 'Times-News' Appoints New Publisher

By: Kevin Drake, advertising director at The Times-News of Hendersonville, has been promoted to publisher.

The newspaper reported Thursday that the 39-year-old Drake succeeds Ruth Birge, who retired on Dec. 31.

Drake began his career with The New York Times Co. in 1997 as an advertising sales representative for the Herald-Journal in Spartanburg, S.C. He worked his way through the ranks, serving in several leadership positions including major accounts manager, sales manager and advertising manager. He came to the Times-News in April 2005 as advertising director.

Drake's promotion was announced on Thursday.
