'Herald-Press' Editor Perkins Leaving Newsroom

By: E&P Staff Editor Michael V. Perkins will leave the Herald-Press (Ind.) after more than 40 years in the newsroom. He will now work as executive director for the Parkview Huntington Hospital Foundation.

Perkins began his career at the Herald-Press in 1967 as a proofreader. He also worked as an advertising salesman before moving to the newsroom. Aside from a two-year hiatus when he served in the Navy, Perkins has been at the paper ever since.

Perkins became editor of the paper on his 30th birthday in 1978, and has served in that capacity for nearly 30 years. His last day at the Herald-Press will be Feb. 10. A week later he will begin working at the hospital foundation.
