By: E&P Staff Rick Bean was named publisher of the Herald-Sun in Durham N.C. He will succeed Geoff Moser who is retiring after 21 months with the paper. Bean will assume the postion after Moser steps down June 1.
Bean was most recently the publisher of High Point (N.C.) Enterprise, a position he held for three and half years. Prior to that he was the publisher of The Daily Dispatch in Henderson, N.C. Bean is a 32-year veteran of the newspaper business.
This is a promotion for Bean, who will add the Herald-Sun, the largest Paxton Media Group North Carolina paper, to the list papers he oversees. He previously oversaw all of PMG?s North Carolina newspapers except the Herald-Sun.
Moser is retiring after 40 years in the newspaper industry. His departure led to the hiring of the third different publisher at the Herald-Sun since the previously family-owned newspaper was bought by PMG in 2005.
