Herblock Book to Include Thousands of Cartoons on DVD

By: E&P Staff A book accompanied by a DVD containing about 16,000 of Herblock's cartoons will be released on Oct. 13, 2009 -- the 100th anniversary of the late Washington Post staffer's birth.

That's according to ComicsDC blogger Mike Rhode, who reported that the book will also include a 4,000-word essay by Herblock's former Post colleague Haynes Johnson.

The book is one of a number of projects from the Herb Block Foundation.

Herblock (1909-2001) had a 72-year cartooning career that included more than a half century with the Post. The multi-Pulitzer Prize winner's work was distributed by Creators Syndicate during the last dozen or so years of his life.
