Hersan Media Buys Idab Wamac Post-press Systems

By: E&P Staff French publisher Hersan Media has ordered post-press systems from Idab Wamac for its Reims and La Reunion plants.

At the Reims facility, which prints the daily l'Union, Hersan will install two single-copy gripper conveyors that deliver newspapers to five high-speed bundling lines. The second gripper conveyor is equipped with an extra pick-up to handle quarter-folded products. The bundling lines include a stacker with rotary pusher, online bundle addressing, top sheet applicator and plastic wrapper, side welder, and in-line strappers. The bundling lines are connected to a sorting and loading system to distribute bundles to up to five trucks at once.

The system is managed by the enterprise version of Idab's mailroom control and information system, with which operators supervise the process and make changes to production orders. The new mailroom system, which will join a Goss Uniliner, is scheduled for installation next summer and production next October.

Hersan has purchased two bundling lines for its La Reunion facility, where the lines, which include stackers and online bundle addressing with top sheet applicator and inline strappers, will connect to two subscriber-addressing machines. The new equipment will be installed in January.
