By: E&P Staff ImpreMedia, the biggest Spanish-language newspaper publisher and news and information company in the United States, on Monday launched a free mobile service in partnership with 4Info that offers alerts in Spanish on politics, sports and entertainment news.
The service combines exclusive ImpreMedia content with 4Info's expertise in target advertising through its SMS (text messaging) ad network, New York City-based ImpreMedia said.
Alerts will be offered by all of ImpreMedia's publications, such as La Opinion in Los Angeles and El Diario La Prensa in New York City, or through the company's new internet portal, http://www.impre.com.
"The introduction of mobile brings a new level of interactivity to our print and online product mix," Arturo Duran, CEO of ImpreMedia Digital said in a statement. "The potential of today's devices to deliver compelling products and services to subscribers is enormous."
ImpreMedia noted a recent survey by the Mobile Marketing Association found that the 26 million U.S. Hispanic cell phone owners use their phones more frequently, and use more features of their phones, than their general market counterparts. Another study, by Experian Simmon Research, reported in 2007 that nearly 70% of U.S. Hispanics, regardless of age, use text messaging regularly.
To sign up for alerts readers can use their mobile phones to send a text message to 44636 with the keyword DEPORTES, VOTO or ENTRE, or by entering their mobile number into an online form
