Hollinger International Inc. of New York has acquired Lerner Communications Inc. of Lincolnwood, Ill., and its 14 weekly newspapers in the Chicago area, Reuters reports. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The Lerner papers have a combined circulation of nearly 100. They will become part of Hollinger's 82-publication Chicago group, which includes the Gary, Ind., Post-Tribune.

Headed by Conrad Black, Hollinger publishes about 380 newspapers in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Israel.
