By: Jeff Holsinger, assistant news editor at the Independent-Mail, has been named news editor, said Don Kausler Jr., the newspaper's editor.
"In the past two years, Jeff has helped us make a good newspaper better," Kausler said. "There are big challenges ahead of us as we strive for further improvement. This is a big opportunity for Jeff to help play a key role in making a difference."
Holsinger, 35, succeeds Celena Price, who is moving to Spartanburg to work for the Herald-Journal's online staff. He will supervise the news copy desk.
Holsinger joined the Independent-Mail in November 2005 as a copy editor/page designer. He was promoted to assistant news editor last year.
He previously worked at the Daily Journal in Seneca, where he was a sports reporter, sports editor and news editor. Holsinger graduated from Indiana University with a degree in journalism.
