By: Joe Strupp HomeTown Newspapers Inc. of Howell, Mich. has closed two of its eight weekly papers and a weekly business publication, company executives said.
The
Insider Business Journal in Brighton published its last issue Jan. 18, while the weekly
Pinckney Express and
Holly Herald each folded after its final issue was distributed last week.
The shutdowns will eliminate 15 jobs, according to HomeTown CEO and President Richard Aginian. He blamed the cutbacks on a slump in advertising. The company will continue to publish its six remaining weeklies, as well as the
Livingston County Daily Press & Argus in Howell.
