By: E&P Staff Cartoonist Tom Batiuk has been receiving recognition for his "Lisa's Story" book that includes last year's "Funky Winkerbean" sequence focusing on the Lisa Moore character's cancer battle.
That sequence made the King Features Syndicate creator a 2008 Pulitzer Prize finalist in April.
Recent honors for "Lisa's Story" include a Nautilus Book Awards silver medal in the "Aging/Death & Dying" category; a ForeWord Magazine's Book of the Year Awards finalist selection in the "Popular Culture" category; and an Independent Publisher Book Awards bronze medal in the "Most Life Changing" category.
"Lisa's Story: The Other Shoe" was published last fall by the Kent State University Press.
