By: Jennifer Saba Four days after being placed on administrative leave, Mark Hornung resigned from the Daily Southtown in Tinley Park, Ill. Hornung served as publisher of the paper since the end of 2001. Before that, he was vice president of circulation at the Chicago Sun-Times. Mike Waters is currently interim publisher of the Southtown.
According to the Chicago Tribune, John Cruickshank, publisher of the Sun-Times, sent an e-mail to Southtown employees on Friday afternoon: "Mark Hornung has tendered his resignation effective July 1 in connection with the review of Hollinger Chicago circulation practices," the memo said.
The Sun-Times is still conducting an internal investigation on it circulation woes that Cruickshank says has been going on for "several years." Stephen Hastings, who filled Hornung's spot as vice president of circulation, resigned last Monday after being placed on administrative leave.
The Sun-Times also announced that Paul Glaeser would become head of circulation after consulting with the paper, according to the Tribune.
