By: E&P Staff Matt Oliver has been named executive vice president and general manager of the Houston Chronicle.
Oliver, who has been a Hearst newspapers executive for the past decade, most recently spearheaded a productivity initiative for the company. Previously, he spent 10 years at the San Antonio (Texas) Express-News, where he served as vice president of production and managed the installation of new color presses and the startup of a new production facility.
In his new capacity, Oliver will oversee the vice presidents who run the Chronicle's financial, human resources, information technology, and production areas. He replaces Robert (Bob) Carlquist.
