Huffington: Online Content Should Be Kept Free

By: E&P Staff Addressing the American Society of Magazine Editors at a luncheon yesterday, Huffington Post founder Arianna Huffington advised magazine editors not to put content behind pay walls like the New York Times' TimesSelect, according to published reports.

Huffington spoke about the importance of finding good bloggers, and extolled the obsessive nature of the medium, which allows continued investigation even after larger media outlets have dropped particular issues.

She also said that while it may be quite expensive to monitor online comments from readers, it is a good practice for sites that want to create an online community.
