HUMOR ADDED TO AP'S CAMPAIGN COVERAGE

For every Al Gore quote and George W. Bush promise found on The
Associated Press' wires in coming months, there will be plenty of
Jay Leno jabs, David Letterman punchlines, and Bill Maher putdowns,
according to AP officials.



Since Aug. 7, the news cooperative has offered its members a nightly
compilation of political comments from America's late-night TV hosts,
and plans to continue the service until Election Day.



'It goes without saying that our readers appreciate the addition of
some humor into the mix of campaign reporting,' said Mike Silverman,
AP deputy managing editor for national news.
