By: E&P Staff Beginning next year, the Huron Daily Tribune in Bad Axe, Mich., will drop its Monday edition and begin publishing a Saturday morning edition.

Previously, it had published Monday through Friday.

Hearst Newspapers Senior Vice President and Group Publisher Mark Aldam said in a statement that the move was being made in order to ?be responsive to the customer?s demand for more timely coverage in print of important events, like local sports and breaking news from Friday evening.? The Saturday morning edition will debut on Jan. 2, 2010.

The Daily Tribune?s parent company, the Huron Publishing Company, will also relocate its production operations from its facility in Bad Axe, Mich., to the plant run by the Daily Tribune?s sister paper, the Midland (Mich.) Daily News, at the end of the year. The Huron Publishing Company and the Midland Daily News are both owned by Hearst Publishing.

Aldam explained in the statement that the ?more state-of-the-art production facility? currently used by the Daily News will improve the overall quality of both publications.
