IBM Offers Preconfigured Quick Start NICA

Posted
By: E&P Staff IBM Corp. has announced availability of a "Quick Start" bundle of its NICA digital asset management solution. The low-cost, quick-to-implement bundle for small to medium-size publishers incorporates the best practices of newspapers and magazines using NICA.

The Bundle has most of the functionality of the standard NICA solution, such as the ability to archive and manage text, images and pages with native Macintosh, Windows and Web browser clients, and search with Autonomy's K2 parametric search engine. Quick Start uses a predefined metadata model and preconfigured workflows employed by most newspapers. Customers will be able to modify the configuration.

The Quick Start bundle will be supported on the Linux server (Intel) platform and use IBM's new DB2 Express C database.

NICA is an end-to-end digital asset management solution that enables users to manage, archive, retrieve and reuse content such as text, photos, graphics and pages. Open architecture permits easy integration with customers' front-end systems.
