By: E&P Staff On Sept. 18 and 19, Ifra -- the research and service organization for the news publishing industry, based in Darmstadt, Germany -- will hold an international conference in Paris dedicated to mobile e-reading to help newspapers make the best of the electronic mobile devices' potential.
Development of thin, flexible electronic reading devices is expanding worldwide. In its announcement, Ifra states that "in a few years time we will see a growing market for this convenient and environmentally friendly way of reading books, news and documents." The meeting will consider platform, content, services, navigation and design.
Topics will include understanding business and technology for new e-paper devices, existing solutions, digital information technologies (the current situation, expectations, and mass-market success factors, and ways to use a Web-print model.
Featured speakers will represent publishers and technology developers from Sweden, France, The Netherlands, Canada and the United Kingdom.
The conference will take place in Les Salons de l'Aveyron, Paris, with presentations translated simultaneously into English and French. Fees, which exclude tax but include materials and meals, are 990 euros for Ifra members, 1,290 euros for non-members. If three persons from a company register, the third person's fee is discounted 50%.
