By: (AP) The International Herald Tribune said it will co-publish a new English-language business daily newspaper that will be inserted in its editions in Thailand.

Thaiday, scheduled to begin publication June 1, will have features on Thai business, political and cultural news. Published in collaboration with the Manager Media Group, it also will have translated articles from the Thai-language Manager newspaper, the International Herald Tribune said in a statement Thursday.

The new publication addresses increasing demand for the International Herald Tribune in the region, president and chief operating officer Richard Woolridge said in the statement.

The company said it currently has eight ventures with publishers around the world which produce English editions of their national newspapers for exclusive distribution with the International Herald Tribune.

Thaiday is the third such venture for the International Herald Tribune in Asia. The other two are the JoongAng Daily in South Korea, launched in 2000, and the IHT/Asahi Shimbun in Japan, launched in 2001.

The Paris-based International Herald Tribune, owned by the New York Times Co., is printed at 30 sites around the world and is for sale in more than 180 countries.
