By: E&P Staff ImpreMedia, already the nation's biggest Spanish-language newspaper chain, is growing again, announcing late Friday that it has acquired the three Rumbo newspapers in Texas.
Rumbo, launched as dailies in four Texas markets in 2004, was sold by Meximerica Media Inc.. Terms were not disclosed.
In January, the Rumbo tabs were converted to weekly publication from three times a week. They are distributed free in the Houston, San Antonio, and Rio Grande Valley markets, all of which are in the nation's top 10 Hispanic markets.
"Acquiring Rumbo's network of newspapers in Texas expands ImpreMedia's national footprint to 7 of top 10 Hispanic markets, which allows ImpreMedia to provide advertisers a larger, national platform to present their brand messages while building sales volume locally," said Erich Linker, Senior Vice President of Sales for ImpreMedia.
ImpreMedia publishes the nation's largest Spanish-language daily, La Opinion in Los Angeles, and one of the oldest Spanish-language dailies, El Diario La Prensa in New York City.
