INDIANA — A southeast Indiana journalism adviser sued Greater Clark County Schools on Wednesday, claiming administrators retaliated against her for supporting the First Amendment rights of students.

Kelly Short filed the federal lawsuit two months after the district placed her on suspension in November. Short advised the student newspaper and yearbook at Jeffersonville High School, along the Indiana-Kentucky border near Louisville. She has been a teacher there since 1994.

People will soon see that Kelly is not being suspended for the reasons she has stated above. She left the Journalism class thousands of dollars in debt and she then harrassed the students telling them it was up to them to pay the debt off by having yard sales selling their personal belongings. She told them that they had to keep it a secret and that she would get fired if they told anyone. She put a lot of weight on these kids. The children were harrassed by her leaving them in tears and stressed out.
