Independence 'Examiner' Shifts Publishing Schedule to Mornings

By: The publisher of The Examiner in Independence says the newspaper will break from its tradition and deliver in the morning.

Steve Curd says starting with the March 3 edition, The Examiner will be distributed in the morning Tuesday through Saturday, ending afternoon delivery.

Curd says it's a strategic move to give readers more time to flip through the broadsheet.

The newspaper plans for extra distribution, larger sections and a new subscriber incentive program with the first morning edition.

Curd says the change will give the paper more credibility and accessibility in the marketplace.

The Examiner would join the majority of newspapers across the country that already deliver in the mornings.

Last month the newspaper eliminated its Monday edition to help control rising costs.
