International Newspaper Group’s (ING) will host the Operations All-Stars Awards on Wednesday, Oct. 7 as part of Americas Newspapers’ virtual 3-day conference: PIVOT 2020 . Mike Blinder, Publisher of Editor and Publisher Magazine (E&P) will host the event along with Mark Hall President of ING.

Today’s operations executives represent the heart and soul of a news publishing company,” said Blinder. “They not only understand the mechanics of every department, their expertise goes well beyond knowing presses, inserting equipment and capital expenditures. We want people to nominate a colleague who contributes new thinking, new ideas and sometimes unconventional methods of finding solutions that can help the industry maintain profitability especially during these troubling times.” We encourage all to nominate anyone who helps get our products out, at: EditorAndPublisher.com/allstars.

Mark Hall, ING president and regional manufacturing director for Postmedia Network Inc. stated: “As an operations executive, it’s particularly exciting to me to see this effort in recognizing the contributions that production and operations have made throughout the years and continue to make to our industry. Many areas of the industry strive to be recognized with awards specific to their area. Newspapers around the country proudly display Pulitzer Prizes for their exceptional journalism. There are awards for breaking news, investigative reporting, photography, editorial cartoons—the list goes on. But the focus this new award puts on the operations area is long overdue and will lead to renewed enthusiasm by many in this critical department of the industry.”

“America’s Newspapers is glad to be able to work with ING as they present the ING/E&P All-Stars awards during PIVOT 2020,” stated Dean Ridings, CEO of America’s Newspapers the host of PIVOT 2020. “We’re glad to able to participate in showcasing the operations executives who are contributing new and innovative thinking for our industry.”

E&P  began partnering with ING earlier this year in expanding our content centering on best practices, networking, and idea exchange driven from operational excellence,” said Blinder. “For over 140 years, E&P has been the primary source for information for this essential and important part of the news publishing business. Now more than ever we believe it is important for us to be the voice for those who focus on operations.
