By: E&P Staff Paul Ingrassia, a Dow Jones & Company, Inc. vice president, said Monday he plans to leave the company.
"I will be leaving probably after the first of the year," Ingrassia told Reuters in a brief phone interview. "There just didn't seem to be an appropriate place for me in the company." He added that he did not see "any role that really excited me" at Dow Jones.
Ingrassia, 57, said, according to Reuters, that the decision was unrelated to the pending Dow Jones sale to Rupert Murdoch's News Corp.
"He had been a frontrunner to be the next managing editor of the Journal, the paper's top editorial job, after Paul Steiger said he would retire," Reuters related. "The role instead went in May to Marcus Brauchli, then a deputy managing editor."
Ingrassia joined Dow Jones in 1977 as a reporter in the Journal's Chicago bureau.
