By: E&P Staff InOpinion (
www.inopinion.com) has begun operations.
So far, the syndicate is offering two daily features: "One Word Editorials" and "Too Tough for TV: The Rejected Jokes of Late-Night Comics."
The first feature consists of a one-word headline followed by 30-50 words of commentary penned by former USA Today editorial writers with a variety of political views.
"Too Tough" offers at least 30 original jokes a week on news events, politics, and culture from all over the ideological spectrum. It's edited by Mike Long, who has been, among other things, a stand-up comic and a speechwriter for former U.S. Sen. Fred Thompson (R-Tenn).
The syndicate will offer three new features starting next month, according to InOpinion Editor David Mastio, who has been letters editor, Op-Ed editor, and an editorial writer for USA Today. More recently, he was involved in designing the editorial page of the new Washington Examiner.
InOpinion said its goal is to "bring life, humor, and a little youth" to newspaper opinion sections that have remained "remarkably" unchanged as cable news, talk radio, and blogs have grown in influence.
