By: E&P Staff National and regional newspaper advertising insert printer Fisher Printing Inc. will install a new Goss Magnum 4 press with heatset capabilities and two Goss C5 folders at its Orange, Calif., plant in the fall.
A family-owned business founded in Chicago in 1933, Fisher Printing still has facilities in Illinois. It operates multiple Goss V-30, Mercury, Magnum and Sunday 2000 presses. The West Coast operation was added in 1981. The full-service company specializes in producing weekly newspaper inserts for grocery stores as well as other retailers.
The new single-tower Magnum 4 press will feature a 21-inch cutoff and a 40-inch web-width. With ribbon deck and two folders, the configuration "will give us the flexibility to print standard four-page inserts in double-out production, effectively cutting production time in half for some jobs," Bill Fischer, COO for the company's West Coast operation, said in a statement. The four-high tower also allows the company to fit the press inside a planned addition to the facility.
