Inspiration for Comic Character to Speak in D.C.

By: E&P Staff The U.S. Department of State's Office of Civil Rights has asked Stephanie H. -- the inspiration for Shannon Lake in "For Better or For Worse" -- to be the keynote speaker at this Thursday's 2007 Disability Awareness Month Celebration in Washington, D.C.

Stephanie is the niece of "FBorFW" cartoonist Lynn Johnston, whose comic runs in more than 2,000 newspapers via Universal Press Syndicate.

In other news, $5 will be donated to the Farley Foundation each time someone buys a signed copy of Johnston's "Remembering Farley" book this month from the FBorFW.com online store.

The Farley Foundation is a charitable organization, founded in 2001, that subsidizes non-elective medical care for pets of low-income seniors and people with disabilities.

Farley was the "FBorFW" cartoon dog who died in 1995.
