By: Editorial Staff has shifted all graphic arts business from its Electronic Publishing Division to its Optronics Division, in Chelmsford, Mass., occasioning changes in responsibility for several managers.
Still in charge of the Retail Solutions and Technical and Corporate Publishing Groups (which remain a part of Electronic Publishing), EPD vice president Rich Buccheim now has overall responsibility for Optronics, where general manager James Jacobs also takes on responsibility for the former EPD graphic arts business.
Optronics sales director Colin Murphy, marketing director Ed Chru-sciel and customer support director Bob Murray now also handle EPD products.
Those products include the DP/Studio image-manipulation and page-assembly system and applications for Intergraph's Client Object Storage and Management Server, which organize text, images, video and business data as "intelligent objects linked with supporting attributes" to manage publishing workflow. EPD continues research and development of the products' core technologies, working with Optronics to develop graphic arts applications.
As part of the worldwide reorganization, Helmut Schwarz was named to the new position of general manager of Netherlands-based Optronics Europe. Reporting to Murphy, Schwarz oversees all operations and is responsible for managing all sales, marketing and customer service functions, including development of major OEM accounts, high-value accounts and custom products ? duties that overlap those earlier performed by Michael Fraser-Hopewell, who earlier this year was named director of Intergraph's Retail Solutions Group UK.
Schwarz, whose background includes work as sales manager for Crosfield Germany's News Publishing System division, began his graphic arts career 20 years ago when he founded a reprophotography studio.
