By: E&P Staff First-quarter Internet advertising revenue increased 38 percent from last year, according to a new study from the Interactive Advertising Bureau and PricewaterhouseCoopers. It's good news for companies reliant upon Internet advertising sales, such as Google Inc. and Yahoo Inc.
Total Internet advertising revenue for the quarter was $3.9 billion, which, according to the IAB, set a new record, up from $2.8 billion for the same period last year, and up 6 percent from $3.6 billion during the fourth quarter.
IAB represents more than 250 interactive companies which sell about 86 percent of domestic online advertising.
Shares of Yahoo were down 78 cents at $32.24 in afternoon trading, while Google shares were down $4.42 at $376.93 on the Nasdaq.
