Introducing three new editing residents at The New York Times

Posted

We are pleased to announce that Rebecca Davis, Isabela Espadas Barros Leal and Jenna Milliner-Waddell are joining the Editing Residency this month. The Editing Residency is an immersive learning program that provides two years of training and support with the goal of nurturing the next generation of editors. Alexa, an assistant editor on the Career Programs team, leads the residency.

Times residents edit work from across our newsroom, including daily news articles, enterprise journalism, features and visuals. They begin their residency on the Flexible Editing desk, developing their skills under Lillie Dremeaux, a deputy editor with a deep understanding of Times journalism.

Rebecca has spent more than a decade writing about Asia at outlets including Agence France-Presse, Le Monde and Variety, where she was the magazine’s first China bureau chief. She delights in discovering new languages and speaks five.

Isabela Espadas Barros Leal

Isabela comes to The Times from NBC News, where she’s held multiple editing roles over the past five years. Outside of work, she enjoys fostering dogs and watching every best picture nominee ahead of the Oscars.

Jenna Milliner-Waddell

Jenna was an associate editor at New York magazine, where she started as a writer. She is an adjunct professor at New York University. In her spare time, she loves trying new restaurants and playing tennis.

Rebecca, Isabela and Jenna will start on Nov. 18. Please join us in welcoming them to The Times.
