IPIX Signs Deal With 2 Publishing Vendors

By: Jim Rosenberg At the annual Ifra Expo in Leipzig, Germany, this week, two Scandinavian publishing systems developers announced that their advertising systems will incorporate technology from U.S.-based Internet Pictures Corp. (iPIX) to give customers an opportunity to add visual elements to classified ads.

With a rising expectation of visual components for Web content, iPIX said its outsourced Rimfire system resolves production issues such as color, size and format, while enabling users with almost no digital know-how to crop, rotate and upload images (including multiple images for an online ad) and instantly check results. Rimfire transform images and other data on-the-fly into multiple standardized formats and outputs and supports round-the-clock output to multiple destinations.

IPIX said its software components are "simple to integrate into a Web site," where they enhance advertisers' use of the Web-based order-entry system. Denmark's CCI Europe, with offices Kennesaw, Ga., is bringing iPIX capabilities to users of its AdDesk Sales system. Beyond booking ads, AdDesk aims to improve operation and capture new opportunities using a single order for many ads in multiple media, with one invoice and fewer errors.

Sweden's Mactive, with offices in Melbourne, Fla., offers AdBase software with iPIX-powered Photo Ads, which its Business Development Vice President John E. Herbst called "an incremental revenue generator for large or small publications." The company said classified operations at The Seattle Times, The Boston Globe, The Knoxville (Tenn.) News-Sentinel, and other dailies are incorporating Photo Ads.

Headquartered in Oak Ridge, Tenn. and San Ramon, Calif., iPIX develops imaging solutions for online commerce, classified advertising and security. Its technologies create, process, and manage various media, including still and immersive images, video, text and audio.
