By: E&P Staff Color reproduction systems developer IQ Colour Inc., Bloomfield Hills, Mich., hired graphic communications industry veteran John P. Sweeney as business development vice president, reporting to President and CEO and Michael Feldman.
Sweeney will direct the company's launch of the IQ Colour system, "communicating the advantages of IQ Colour to the market [and] helping other industry professionals understand how automated color reproduction in an RGB workflow pays dividends," Feldman said in announcing the appointment.
"Color management, automated closed-loop color controls and monitor proofing on press are all here," Sweeney said in a statement. "A vision-based color separation system is the final link in achieving automated, color managed digital workflows."
Sweeney joins IQ Colour (see 'Smarter Four-Color,' in E&P's March 2007 print edition), with 20 years of marketing, sales and technical experience, most recently as vice president at Integrated Color Solutions Inc., where he was responsible for sales and marketing. Before joining ICS in 2004, he was color management systems director at Graphic Microsystems Inc., and sales and marketing vice president and process controls director at Graphic Arts Technical Foundation, Sewickley, Pa. He also has served as adjunct professor at Carnegie Mellon University's School of Industrial Administration.
A proponent of industry standards and color management and control, Sweeney has been associated with many efforts related to the latter, and has advised many industry organizations including Technical Association of the Graphic Arts, PIA/GATF, IDEAlliance, ANSI Committee for Graphic Arts Technical Standards, Specifications for Web Offset Publications, the Research & Engineering Council of National Association for Printing Leadership and CIP4.
